When do you
fly?
Every day when weather permits. The best flying season is from
June to November.
How long is the flight?
On average flights last
between 45 minutes and 1 hour. Some flights can go up to 1.5 hours
depending
on fuel and acceptable landing sites.
How high do you go?
Most
flights are between 1,000 and 3,000 feet above the ground.
Is
it cold up there?
The temp at our flying altitude will be within a
few degrees of the ground temp.
What type of clothing should
I wear?
Ballooning doesn't require special clothing. We require that
you wear long pants, closed toe
shoes (no high heels).
What does
it feel like, and will I be scared?
The sensation is more of floating
gently along. We have never had a passenger unable to make the flight
because of fear.
If you are afraid of heights please tell your pilot.
There are a few things we can do to get you more comfortable.
When
and where do we meet?
We meet one half hour before sunrise at
the launch site chosen by your pilot. Generally we use the Fairgrounds
to launch. Your pilot will confirm time and place with you the night
before your adventure.
Where do we land and how do we get back
to our car?
The balloon travels with the wind. Your pilot will choose
a launch site that will allow for a safe open landing site. We have
a dedicated group of crew people who "chase" the balloon in our vehicle.
Can
I help with the balloon?
Absolutely! In fact we encourage it. Let your
pilot know you want to help.
What will cause my flight to be
cancelled?
Balloon passenger flights take place with winds less
than 10 mph, with no rain or approaching storms. Visibility must be
at least 3 miles. We will cancel any flight when weather conditions
jeopardize the safety of passengers or equipment.
Can we be done
by whatever time?
You should plan on 3 to 3.5 hours for your balloon
adventure. Since we rely on the wind to get us to an acceptable landing
site, have to pack up after landing, we are unable to promise anything
other than a general return time. Don't forget our catered brunch,
you'll want to enjoy the spoils of a great flight with a toast.
